Looking to make your energy costs predictable, reduce your operating costs, and lock in long-term value for your property? Solarize Greater Philadelphia and the PA Solar Center are working with commercial and nonprofit building owners from Philadelphia, Montgomery, Chester, Delaware or Bucks Counties to help install rooftop solar through the GET Solar program. There has never been a better time to invest in solar, and the time to act is NOW before the 30% federal Investment Tax Credit (ITC) expires (with some exceptions, projects must be in service by 12/31/2027 to qualify. This article provides a detailed summary of the criteria and timelines).

GET Solar is a one-stop shop for commercial, industrial, and tax-exempt property owners for:

The program works with the project team until the system is up and running.

We are living in an age of energy volatility. After years of low prices, regional electricity rates are anticipated to become much more costly for commercial and industrial consumers. Investing in solar can insulate all or a portion of an organization's utility demand from price shocks allowing for predictable costs over the 25+ year life of the solar array.

This, coupled with falling equipment costs and the current, generous solar incentives, makes adding solar to a company's energy mix very attractive. But some of those incentives, particularly the 30% Investment Tax Credit, are set to sunset soon creating an urgency for decision making. Property owners can receive the 30% tax credit — regardless of whether they are a for-profit or tax-exempt entity.

Building owners considering going solar should act now as projects beginning this year face the fewest restrictions all while getting the most available benefits.
