Help Shape How Chester County Addresses Climate Change

May 2026

Chester County is currently undertaking an update of its Climate Action Plan — a greenhouse gas reduction plan for county government and the greater community. Lots has changed since the plan was adopted in 2021, and Chester County planners are seeking input from those who live, work, and spend time in Chester County to better understand their priorities, concerns, and ideas related to climate change.

The Planning Commission launched a public survey to help guide countywide policies and actions aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions, preparing for climate impacts, and building a more sustainable community for current and future generations. The survey takes about 5-10 minutes to complete and will remain open through May 31. After that, a second follow-up survey related to prioritizing specific actions county government and the community can take to address climate change will be available. This two-parted survey method will allow the county to understand how constituents view climate change, how prepared residents are for its impacts, and what folks feel the county and other organizations they interact with should be doing to address greenhouse gas emissions and improving our community's resilience to the impacts of climate change.

The updated plan is scheduled to be completed around the end of the year. A public meeting will be held in late Fall to share the draft plan and obtain input on the actions in the plan. The finished plan will include a collection of well-vetted priority actions for our entire community that, when undertaken together, can have a meaningful impact.
