If you've driven through Chester County you've most likely seen a farm or two. Each year, Chester County's Agricultural Development Council produces a new guide celebrating all things that make up the county's robust agriculture industry — farms, farm products, and of course the farmers themselves! Whether you're looking to purchase locally grown products or understand why agriculture industry is so important in Chester County, A Guide to Local Farm Products in Chester County is a great place to start.

For over 20 years, the Farm Guide has served as an annual resource that many residents and visitors look forward to reading. It's typically released in late Spring/early Summer just in time to take advantage of the local farmers markets and their fresh goodies. The latest guide was released at the end of May 2022, and includes more than 125 local farms and markets, as well as stories about a local micro dairy, Styer's Peonies flower farm, the annual Farmer of the Year recipient, upcoming festivals, and more.

The guide can be picked up at various farm locations throughout the county including libraries, select municipal offices, Chambers of Commerce, Kimberton Whole Foods locations, and at the Chester County Food Bank. For easy access, the guide is also available as a PDF online where versions can be downloaded in both English and Spanish.

"We are happy to help Chester County farmers tell their stories," says Ag Development Council Director Hillary Krummrich. "It's incredibly rewarding when we hear our small efforts have helped connect readers with fresh, local food and the people who make our ag industry possible."

By creating the annual Farm Guide, the Chester County Ag Council fulfills their mission to assist local farmers and help market their businesses, while also creating an environment that attracts new farmers and helps residents understand the importance (and impact) of local farming. Additionally, the guide provides a useful resource for those looking to get out and support their community and learn what's in season.

The Farm Guide supports the "Live" goal in Chester County's comprehensive plan, Landscapes3, by promoting increased access to fresh, healthy, and local food. With so many great options to choose from, consumers can pinpoint exactly what they’re looking for and feel good about growing our regional economy.
